Recipe - Beef Noodle Chow Mein

Our deliciously simple old school Beef Noodle and Chow Mein recipe is packed full of cabbage, carrot, beef mince, curry powder and noodles - a classic family favourite.

This old fashioned recipe is a great money saving dinner that won’t break the bank and the kids will be coming back for seconds.

Prep: 10 min, Cooking: 15 mins, Ready in: 25 mins, Makes: 18, Cost : $33.18 or $1.84 per serve



  • 2 tablespoons Oil

  • 1 kg Mince

  • 1 Onion diced

  • 2 cloves Garlic minced

  • 1 tablespoon Ginger crushed

  • 2 tablespoons Curry Powder

  • 2 carrots diced

  • 1/4 Lg Cabbage sliced

  • 250mls Water

  • 1 teaspoon Vegetable Stock

  • 1 x 280ml Oyster Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons Soy Sauce

  • 2 packets 200 gram Noodles


  1. Heat oil in pan, add mince, onions, garlic, ginger and curry powder, cook until mince is brown.

  2. Boil the kettle and put the packet of noodles in a bowl, cook as per instructions.

  3. Add all other ingredients mix well and cook until vegetables are tender.

  4. Drain water from noodles add to mix and stir.

  5. Top with sesame seeds and peanuts if you like.
